If you have already read the “about me” section of this
web site, you know that I have been a waterfowler for almost 40 years. During
that time I have attended many Ducks Unlimited and Delta Waterfowl events.
I have donated some of my birds for auctions and, also bought birds made
by other carvers. Some of those decoys were old; others new, but once they
became mine they were never hunted over. Instead, I used them as research
specimens as I began to teach myself how to carve and paint.
The cork decoys featured here include birds from Ron Laber, Mike Veasy, and
George Williams. Each has a different approach to carving and painting.
Of all the birds, the keels with the shortest height are those of Laber;
the highest are those of Williams. Laber painted these birds in oils,
Veasy in latex, and Williams used acrylics. None of my own birds are
exactly like these but a little of each of these carvers can be found
in my decoys.
The time has come to share these birds with you along with some of my
own. RESCUE THEM! These birds are priced as marked under their photos.
