Each decoy has been signed, dated, numbered and has a felted bottom to protect your furniture. Because I rarely carve more than a dozen decoys per year, most birds on the site are numbered between 1 and 4, in a particular year, for a species. Duplicates (#2 thru #4) also have slightly different "paint jobs" than each other so as to keep them unique. It is my hope that their craftsmanship, scarcity, low numbering and uniqueness are of interest to all collectors.
With their attached felt bottoms, these birds are not readily distinguishable
from wooden decoys. However, unlike other decoys on the market, they are
not made of a resin and pecan shell mix. A special process is used to
create a wood/cork composite body. As such they can be “hunted” over,
once a keel is attached.
Depending upon the duck species, the size of the birds varies between
11 inches and 17 inches. These numbers are from the tip of the tail to
the tip of the bill. Diver species do not have a wooden tail insert so
the bodies of these decoys are shorter than the puddle duck species.
The price of these birds, $120.00, reflects the cost of: additional
materials used in the fabrication of their bodies and the time involved
in getting them to the “look” of wood. Keel will be attached,
if desired, at no additional cost. Please specify when you order.
